Hello to all.

We have just come back from a enjoyable get together with old School mates and friends who went to Mary Hare Grammer School in Southport this afternoon (Sunday 23rd June) for the beach party!! The wind blew us away from the beach inland!! Sue Tinsley very kindly let us all meet at her house to continue the `barbie` which was attended by a cheerful brave crowd! A big thankyou to Sue who rescued the day!! (Good job we had a Plan `B`!!)

I would like to give an update on Jack Henderson. Jack is doing quite well in the Westcliffe rest home. The staff are very helpful and caring. He seemed cheerful and pleased to see me. He goes to Church every Sunday morning (just like we did when we stayed at Birkdale at weekends!)

We talked about old times recapping memorable occasions etc. One thing that does come up with Jack in conversations is that nearly every year on sports day the retired Naval officer (who lived across the road from the School) used to ring up Mr Furness and tell him the Union Jack on the flagpole was upside down!! We had a few laughs! Jack asked me to send his best wishes to everyone.

I also went to view the School to see if anything has been done yet!! The day looms ever closer to the bulldozers moving in?? What happened to the interest from Birkdale cricket club in making the field into a sports area? Has anyone got any latest news to what is going on??

I couldn't make it to the barbecue today, I hope everyone had a good time and hope to make it to the reunion next year

Mrs Vera Roberts, widow of Ted Roberts our school gardener for many years, paid a visit to Southport last weekend from her home in Cornwall. Vera is 85 yrs old now.

Regarding the who's who's section it would be good to have staff who were at the school
