The Reunion Committee held a meeting last Sunday 21 March. I reported that the tickets had been designed, but was held up by myself because the printer is waiting for the copy from me. I will hand it to him tomorrow. The reason for the delay is due to my work commitments, lack of time etc. I apologise to you all for the delay.
Steven Brayshaw reports a steady stream of orders for tickets, including a 1956 leaver, which is good to know. We are hoping to attract more of our more senior expupils, and those who have not attended before.
We talked about the raffle. General consensus being that we feel a little too much time is spent on it, and that we need to do the raffle a bit faster. Your viewpoint on that is welcome, seeing its YOUR time we feel is eaten up by raffle. We don't intend to drop the raffle, just speed it up a bit.
Ticket limit is 180, and we are confident of reaching that number. From the feedback we received, the decision to change the venue has received a positive response from expupils. Chairman Bill Lamont has been busy negotiating a discount with the Scarisbrick Hotel for those who wish to take advantage of its rooms for the night. I think they have 88 rooms, all en-suite and well equipped. The details for the hotel are on a separate posting.
We will continue to use the BBC TV Read Hear website to publicise our reunion.
Regards to all expupils and staff.

In Ashton-under-Lyne Marks and Spencer on Monday, I was served by a charming assistant who kept smiling at me and then said she thought she recognised me. It was Angela Parkhurst! I missed seeing her at the reunion in October, although she was there.
She thought that this year's reunion in October is at the Talbot Hotel, but I now read that it is at The Scarisbrick. Can anyone contact Angela with this information? Mr Wood and I hope to be able to attend the reunion in October.

I have had an email today from Read Hear to say that Reunion 2010 will be on the Read Hear pages this Friday Feb 12.
We hope this will reach out to those ex-pupils who do not know of the website, forum or Facebook. Pages to look for are Read Hear on BBC2.

Birkdale Reunion Association held a Committee Meeting last Friday, 29/01/2010.
The price of tickets for the reunion are £14 and includes a buffet. When ordering tickets can you please let Steve know who they are for so he wont be sending out letters to people who are already getting their tickets through other ex-pupils. It will save him time and postage. Please also include a Stamped Addressed Envelope with your cheque/postal order
We are hoping that older ex-pupils who have not been to our reunions for years will come along to this event with, of course, those who we hope will make their first attendance.
Please make cheques out to Birkdale Reunion Association and send, along with a SAE, to:-

Hello everyone. Wishing you all a happy new year.
I read that the venue for the next reunion will be at the Brick hotel in Lords Street. We have had reunions at the Brick before. I think twice. Should be ok for size and food. What we need now is former pupils who we have not seen for the pass 30-40 years.
We must remember that it's not Ronnie inviting former pupils to the reunion so that he should pay for the food we eat!! Ronnie [& rest of the Committee - TW] arranges this functions for everyone to meet and get together for a good night out at the Brick so start saving up! Thanks to the committee for their time for arranging this year reunion.
