I would like Ron Gilbody to get in touch with me, regarding getting tickets for the reunion. How much are the tickets? are there any left. i'm an old pupil from the school, left in 1971-2, my name was Judith Lester. I remember Stephen Granger. Where will the reunion be held, i know it's in Southport, but what venue?

If you click on the 'Reunions' button on the left, you'll get to a page which tells you when & where the party is as well as how much tickets are. (You should be able to view the Reunions page if you can see this Guestbook.)
If you can't see that for some reason, email Ronnie on feedback@bshira.co.uk.

Its good to know Mr Henderson is coming out fighting mad. He has every reason to and yes the man is amazing. No argument from me.
Perhaps there is a way of getting expupils to make their views known as well? is it not possible to start an online complaint petition up? (hello Tony?)

Hello, I just wanted to let everyone know that yesterday I spoke to Jack Henderson regarding the plight of the School and you can imagine he was devastated and very very angry about what has happened. Jack was telling me that he was busy writing letters to the local council, the current owners, the listed building organisations (who have powers to see that these type of places are protected properly). At the end of the day we should have never let it got to this situation. Too late I know but someone should be made to account for this tragedy.
Dont you all think that Jack is amazing? He is 86 and still has a active life and I'm sure he will cause a little stir in telling the powers be of his disgust on what has happened. (Bless him!)

What a disaster to see our old school buidling being burnt and partly destroyed. So sad to see the photos and also to see Mr Henderson being upset. Melvin Oughton and I too share his feelings.

Seeing the images of our beloved school being badly damaged by fire and Mr Henderson bravely trying to hold back tears as events unfold was greatly upsetting to me and many other ex pupils and people involved with the school. In my heart I hope there is something that can be saved of the building. In my head I know that the fire is the last straw and we need to move on now and leave the premises.
However, Mr Henderson has nothing to cry about really. The school was a magnificent building, our home and the focus of many happy memories (most of them anyway) but when all comes to all it is just bricks and mortar. Mr Henderson and all other staff down the years built something much more solid and long lasting. They built the foundations of our lives. Tthey built in us the ability to go and live our lives in the best possible way we could.
This part of the school is continuing to be built. Many of us are getting back in touch after years away, old friends meeting new friends, and adding themselves to a growing list of ex pupils who refuse to let the memories die.

Hi all,
Its sad to hear of our school being set on fire. I hope Mr Henderson is ok as he was very upset about it.
Does anyone knows who is the current owner of the property?.....just curious.

hello all
I agree with Stephen G. I went to see the damage last night and the place is now a Battle field and it would be too expensive to repair and the whole of the buildings and outlets will be demolish for good RIP.
Hope to buy some bricks to build my new wall and would be named "The SPH Wall"!! What about the clock?? (it was still working last night)!! (will put some pics on facebook)

Hello to everyone on this very sad day in the History of Our School. I am finding it difficult to take it all in and feel very angry as to why the owners have allowed this to happen.
As many will have seen in past E-mails I have written regarding my concerns to the state of the School falling further and further into decline. Its now too late as the owners I feel have got what they wanted and will now see the site eventually be demolished completely to make way for redevelopments of flats and houses?. What happened to so called security? People seem to be able to get in the premises without any problem. (See latest School photos in the Gallery of this website submitted by Scott Pounder).
I hope the local council find some way of punishing these people who dont give a toss by taking them to court and giving them a heavy fine or take the site off them and try and at least salvage something out of what is left?. Will the police find out who did it? No!! All we can do now is look back with fond memories of the good times we had at Birkdale? RIP.
