Hello. Just to send u greetings to wish u a Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year 2011. I miss Southport terribly (last time I went in November to December for a month in 2008). I live in Jeddah. Plz I want to hear from Bikdale School pupils who went from 1997 and onwards. I miss the old school memories & BFEDS memories.

Please be aware that the petition is asking for money and is set at $25 default, many would support but cannot donate money. Just though I would make clear.

Tony Thursday, 9 December 2010 15:06
The petition itself is free to sign. Just ignore the bit where it asks for a donation unless, of course, you want to.

As some of you might be aware, I have been trying to make a fight to save the school from the Developers. Emails have been sent to the Southport Visitor as well as to the planning department for Sefton Council, voicing my concerns that the proposed plans they have in place for the building do not and will not serve the purpose that the building was originally set up for. Namely for the teaching and education for the deaf. If the Developers get their way, the legacy of this building will be lost forever!

My big plan for the whole thing is that I feel the building will and can, still fill a hole that is needed for providing teachers and communication support, social club, subtitled cinema etc., the list could go on and on.

Biggest problem is the building was sold. I am trying to get the Developers on side to incorporate our needs and wants for a better future for the building and for us the deaf too. Hope you will all get behind this worthwhile venture to offer your support in this.

There is now an on-line petition against the current proposed development in place that requires all your signatures and more on it if you want the building to be saved. Make sure all your friends know about and get them to spread the petition to their friends too!

Thanks! "There are stirrings amongst the ashes"

Please click on the link below and sign it. Together we might just save the building - [www.ipetitions.com]

Hello Guys,

There have been some development over what the former School is going to turn into...27 self-contained flats as I speak. Centremodel limited have submitted their planning application and got until Christmas Eve to make their final discision. the deadline is: 03/03/2011.

You can if you wish to voice your objection/support via the Sefton Council Planning Department. look under 'PENDING' on there, you may wish to put your comment forward. Forgot this: Apllication ref no: S/2010/1671

Get your voice heard!

To Sue Tinsley: This 999 service you've mentioned, I always thought this is only for the Area/Borough you happened to live at. .....not nationwide? Correct me if I'm wrong on this as I shall be looking into this in my area where I'm living.

All of you who are deaf/hard of hearing and has a mobile phone, if you want to link your phone number to the text only emergency services then text REGISTER to 999 and your phone will be linked to a database for the emergency services. Then if you ever need the police etc you just text them for help via 999 instead of calling.
